Training students who understand their tools, and designing tools that leave nobody out. 🤗
Welcome to my (semi-)professional website. I am an Associate Professor in computer science at 3iL Ingénieurs, on the Rodez campus (in Aveyron, France!), where I have taught since 2020. I coordinate the Development area there: I make sure design and software engineering have their place in the curriculum, and I teach in particular advanced development, object-oriented programming and software architectures. An ENSIMAG engineer (2012) with a PhD in computer science (Université Toulouse 3, 2017), I am also an associate researcher with the SIG team at IRIT.
I work on disability and with disability, which is also my own; since my surgery in January 2025, I am officially a cyborg.
Since 2026, I have been co-supervising Inès Taktak's thesis, Alignement des données hétérogènes avec IA génératives (aligning heterogeneous data with generative AI), directed by Olivier Teste. First milestone: taking part in OAEI 2026, Bio-ML track.
A study carried out for my students: showing, on a real case, how a scientific question is framed, calibrated, studied and published. Paired prompts, datasets and reproducible figures.
Knowledge fusion and the OAEI campaigns, with one central question: how to explain, verify and make interpretable a result produced by an automated system.
What students and teachers actually do with it, measured rather than assumed, and what that entails in terms of responsibility when you train people to build systems.
I have been publishing since 2013: I did not arrive on these topics with the wave of conversational agents. What has not changed since is the method. A protocol written before the experiment, published datasets, figures anyone can reproduce, and work submitted to peer review.
The word AI is used to sell a great deal these days, and I read those claims with suspicion. I use these tools daily and I teach them; what I take issue with are figures quoted without a protocol, self-declared expertise, and promises nobody is bound to keep. Several pieces here take that on: What AI is Not and The tool is not for sale.
Projects and development
In addition to my teaching and research activities, I develop and maintain various personal and academic projects, including:
MesCours: the course written in Markdown, rendered as slides and as a handout;
MesDépôts: versioned handouts, tutorials and exercises;
Tatoufé: code written in the browser, one exercise at a time;
MesInterros: tests taken at the same time by a whole room;
These projects serve both as experimental playgrounds and as teaching material. The full list is on profoutils.
Sobriety
I place particular importance on simple, accessible, and clear computing, with a fondness for sober, retro, and slow-tech approaches. What that amounts to here, what has been tested and what remains to be fixed: see the accessibility page.
